Check out what we were learning about this week!
- Math: We completed Module 1 (Multiplication and Division). We will test on Monday October 3. Please look for the math review sheet in your child's binder to see what kinds of problems may be on the test.
- ELA: We learned how to "show, not tell" in our writing. We also began using a thesaurus in order to find more interesting words to include in our writing. We continued learning about main idea.
- Social Studies: We wrapped up our unit on South Carolina regions.
- Science: We completed our unit about temperate forests.

Friday Folders September 23
- There will be no graded papers in today's Friday folders. You can still check on Parent Portal to keep up to date with current averages. You can expect graded papers and progress reports to resume next week.
- There are order forms for Scholastic Books in your child's folder. If you would like to order books for your child, you can order from these flyers. Often, these are offered at a reduced rate comparative to in stores. For each book purchased, our class earns points that are turned into more books for our class library. If you are interested, you can send in a check along with the form made out to Scholastic. There is also an option to purchase online using the code on the flyer.
Amazing Me Project
Amazing Me Projects are due on October 13 (our next half day). Looking forward to seeing your children's wonderful creations!

Math: We continued to learn how to break apart large multiplication problems by using the distributive property. We are continuing to try to memorize multiplication facts.
ELA: We learned how to write effective leads or beginnings in our writing. We continued to use inferencing, predicting, and making observations while we read to help us determine main idea.
Science: We began learning about temperate forests.
Social Studies: We finished our learning about the six physical regions of South Carolina.

Math: We continued learning about multiplication and division relationships. We began using www.multiplication.com to help us foster fluency with multiplication facts 0s through the 4s.
Reading: We read Animal Homes and learned more about determining main idea in a reading passage. We used the table model to help us visualize this. Ask you child about the main idea table-the top is the main idea and the legs are the supporting details. We also learned ways to successfully read and comprehend nonfiction works.
Science: We wrapped up our learning about grasslands.
Social Studies: We learned that there are 6 regions in South Carolina and began studying the characteristics of each.

I have prepared a Study Stack for our upcoming grasslands test. If students are familiar with these words, then they will feel confident on the test. Of course the test is not just recall of facts but application of understanding, which this website helps with.
