Week in Review
February 5-9

ELA:  We continued to work with text dependent analysis and you would be AMAZED at how your child's critical thinking skills are developing.  I am so proud!

Math:  We continued to work with area. Now we are beginning to use multiplication sentences to help us solve area problems rather than relying on drawing or counting squares.  Please continue to review with your child all multiplication facts at home. Their knowledge of math from this point onward is dependent in many ways on their multiplication fluency.

Science:  Miss Jackson began a new unit on soil.  Ask your child about our soil explorations and soaker lesson!

Social Studies:  We learned more about the American Revolution, including the colonists' Declaration of Independence.  The kids really enjoyed learning the real reason why we celebrate each and every July 4!

Valentine Exchange

On February 14, we will have a Valentine exchange in our classroom.  While we cannot have a "party", we will save some time in our day to exchange valentines with each other.  If your child would like to participate, please send a valentine for each student in our class.  It is usually easier to hand out valentines by writing on the "from" line only.  However, if your child would like to participate and would like to address each valentine, that is fine, too.  Below, a list of names is provided for your convenience.
