Fireflies Field Trip

Exciting Opportunity!
Please be on the lookout today for a special opportunity for our school and the Columbia Fireflies baseball team. On Wednesday, May 23 our ENTIRE school will be going to a Fireflies game! Our students will receive free admission and a free boxed lunch!
Parents are welcome to attend the game as well, but will need to purchase tickets in advance in order to be seated with our school.
The order form is due on March 29. Please look for this to be in the Friday folder today.

**Miss Jackson is completing full time solo teaching this week.**
Math: We will continue to learn more about fractions, in particular finding fractions on a number line and ordering fractions. We will have a quiz on lessons 14-17 on Thursday.
ELA: We will be learning about perspective and point of view in fictional works. We will be reading Nacho and Lolita, from our reading book. There will be no Nacho and Lolita test this week.
Science: We will be learning about slow processes that change the Earth (weathering, erosion, and deposition).
Social Studies: We will be learning about antebellum (before the Civil War) times.

ELA: This week we completed MAP testing and showed a tremendous amount of growth! We also continued learning about summarizing of fictitious texts.
Math: This week we completed MAP testing, and like reading, we did a WONDERFUL job!! We also continued learning about fractions.
Science: We compared and contrasted nonrenewable and renewable resources.
Social Studies: We wrapped up our unit on government.

ELA: This week, we learned more about summarizing text. We also practiced our TDA (Text Dependent Analysis) skills.
Math: We continued to learn about fractions. In particular, we have learned about unit fractions and how to correctly describe fractional parts.
Social Studies: We continued to learn about SC government.
Science: We began learning about renewable and nonrenewable resources.

Social Studies: We have been learning about how states began to build a government after the American Revolution.

ELA: We began a a unit on cause and effect. Also, in preparation for Spring MAP testing later this month, we are working a lot in small groups to practice new skills.
Math: We learned more about perimeter.
Science: We worked on inference skills.
Social Studies: We ended our unit on the American Revolution.
