ELA:  We will begin publishing our nonfiction books. We will work with theme in fiction.

Math:  We will continue working with area as well as perimeter.

Social Studies:  We will begin a new unit about government.

Science:  We will continue learning about changes to earth: weathering, erosion, deposition, and volcanic eruptions.

ELA:  SW begin to wrap up their nonfiction books with revision and editing. SW begin to learn about theme in fiction.

Math:  We will continue to learn more about area.  We will have a quiz on lessons 1-4 on  February 21.

Social Studies:  We will wrap up our learning about the American Revolution.  We will have a test on this unit on February 22.

Science:  We will continue to learn about slow changes to earth:  weathering, erosion, and deposition.

ELA:  We will continue to work on our nonfiction books. We will also be learning more about multiple meaning words.

Math:  We will wrap up our mini-unit on place value.  We will begin a new module about area.

Science:  We will begin a new unit about weathering, erosion, and deposition.

Social Studies:  We will continue learning about the American Revolution.

Coming Soon...Skype Session with Suzanne Selfors

We are excited to announce that our class will have a very special Skype session with author Suzanne Selfors on March 5!  Mrs. Selfors is the author of many books.  We are currently using her book, Smells Like Dog, as our continuing read aloud.  

Be on the lookout for an order form to come home on Friday. A bookstore that she partners with has contacted me with an offer to provide signed copies of her books.  

The order form offers a variety of her titles. If you are interested, fill out the form and return by February 20.  I will then send forms and payments to the bookstore.  The books should come back rather quickly. 

Purchase of the books is completely optional.  All students in class will participate in the Skype session.

ELA:  We will be working on nonfiction writing. We will continue to use mentor sentences to review grammar skills.

Math: We will be learning about concepts related to place value to include writing numbers in standard, word, and expanded forms as well as comparing numbers.

Social Studies:  We will continue to learn about the American Revolution.

Science:  We will wrap up our learning about soil.  We will have a test on our soil unit on Friday.

Valentine's Day

VALENTINE'S DAY

We will be exchanging valentines on February 14. If your child would like to participate, please send a valentine for each student in our class.  Below is a list of names of students in our class, should your child choose to address each card.  Students may also choose to write their name in the "from" line and leave the "to" line blank.  It's up to them!  

I will provide a bag for valentines to be collected and brought home in.

**We will not have a party as our celebrations are in December and June.**
