Week of March 25

ELA:  We will be working on not only expressing opinions but also defending them.  We will begin working with figurative language.  We will also continue working on determining main idea of texts.  

Math:  We will be wrapping up our learning about perimeter as well as beginning a new unit about fractions.   

Social Studies: We will begin learning about the events leading to the Civil War.

Science: We will continue learning about water features and landforms on Earth.  We will have a water features quiz on Wednesday.

Field Trip on Friday!

ELA:  We will continue to practice finding the theme, or message in fiction.  We will also begin to explore point of view.  For word work, we will be using prefixes and suffixes to help us build words and determine the meanings of unfamiliar words.  In writing, we will be working on expressing opinions.  We will have a quiz on Nacho and Lolita on Tuesday.

Math:  We will wrap up our time mini-unit and begin learning about perimeter.

Social Studies:  We will continue learning about antebellum times.  We will have a quiz on Friday.

Science:  We will learn about landforms and water features present in the world.

Week of March 11

ELA:  We will continue to work with determining theme.  In our word work, we will work with suffixes.

Math:  We will wrap up Module 4 and complete a mini-unit on time. We will learn how to tell time to the nearest minute and how to determine elapsed time.  We will have a test on Module 4 on Tuesday.

Social Studies:  We will wrap up our learning about government and begin a unit on antebellum times.

Science:  We will wrap up our learning about fast and slow changes to Earth. We will have a quiz on Thursday.
