Scavenger Hunt

Today we learned more about text features that we see in nonfiction books.  Then, we worked with synergy partners to find features in some of our classroom books.  Ask your child what they know about bullets, headings, the index, the glossary, and other features that we learned more about!

Procedures, Procedures!

This week, we have learning all about LCEU procedures.  Here, our students are showing how to wait in line.  They are doing a great job!

Fillers or Dippers?

Students learned how to fill others' buckets on Wednesday.  The class also discussed bucket dipppers. Here, students work on a sorting activity that ties what they learned together.

You can ask your child what a bucket filler is and what a bucket dipper is.  We are certainly a class of fillers!

Library Books

LCEU Checkout

Today our class had the opportunity to visit our school library and to check out books. Here at LCEU, students can check out up to 3 books at a time.  Students may keep them for 2 weeks.  Mrs. Ryan, our media specialist reviewed expectations for taking care of books as well as explained the layout of our library. Students were very excited to begin finding books to read!

Snacks

Students may choose to bring a snack each day. Our lunch is late (12:25-12:50).  A healthy, quick, easily accessible snack would be a best choice.  Avoid snacks that need spoons or forks. Please do not send candy as a snack.

fruit snacks

Bringing a snack is completely optional.  I wanted to give the opportunity, however.

First Day is Coming Fast!

First Day of School- August 22

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting many members of my class and their families during Open House.  It is going to be an awesome year!  School begins on Tuesday, August 22.  

Let's Stay Hydrated!

Your child can bring a water bottle to class, if he or she would like to.  Not only is it hot outside, but a sip of water here and there throughout the day helps us all to stay hydrated and focused.  

Please check to see that there are no leaky tops.  Also, let's save juices and the like for lunch.  If water spills, it's no big deal for cleanup.  

Parent Orientation

Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 31.  LCE will be holding Parent Orientation sessions.  The first session will begin at 5:30 and the second session will begin at 6:30. Feel free to choose the time that works best for you.  This will be a great time to learn more about your child's classroom, expectations, and goals for the year.  

Open House

Please join use for LCE's Open House on Thursday, August 17th from 4:30-6:00.  This is a great time to meet your teacher and drop off supplies!  We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
