Looking Forward Week of June 4

Last Week!
June 4-7

ELA:  We will finish reading The Lemonade War.

Math:  We will review math content from the year as well as work on multiplication fluency.

Science:  We will wrap up learning about matter and continue with heat.

Social Studies:  We will be learning about tourism in South Carolina.

ELA:  We have been reading The Lemonade War as well as learning about how to write well thought out opinion stances.

Math:  We continued to work on multiplication fluency as well as learn more about quadrilaterals.

Science:  We continued to explore matter.

Social Studies:  We learned about the impacts of the Great Depression and World War II.

Looking Forward Week of May 27-June 1

Looking Forward
 Week of May 27- June 1
ELA:  We will continue reading The Lemonade War and work with opinion based writing.  There will be a quiz on Chapters 1-4 on The Lemonade War on Thursday.

Math:  We will be working with polygons and multiplication fluency.  There will be a quiz on quadrilaterals on Wednesday.

Science:  We will continue learning about properties of matter. We will begin learning about heat.

Social Studies:   We will continue learning about South Carolina during major events such as the Great Depression, WWII, and the Cold War. We will also revisit tourism's role in the state's economy.

Math:  We completed SC Ready Testing.

Science:  We began learning about properties of matter.

Social Studies:  We began learning more about the time period after Reconstruction (late 1800s- early 1900s).

Looking Ahead Week of May 14

Week of May 14-18

ELA:  Time to shine!  We will take SC Ready on Monday and Tuesday.  Afterwards, we are back to practicing fiction skills through Nacho and Lolita, a reading book story, and The Lemonade War.  

Science:  We will begin a new unit about matter.  Students will be learning about properties of matter.

Social Studies:

Math:  Time to shine!  We will take SC Ready on Thursday. Afterwards we will practice problem solving skills and fine tune our multiplication and division fact knowledge!

May 15 - SC Ready: ELA Day 2
May 17 - SC Ready: Math
May 22 - SC PASS Science (4th Grade) and SC PASS Social Studies (5th Grade)


Testing Tips

  • Get a good night's rest.  
  • Eat a hearty breakfast, one high in protein to help student feel full.  Testing can take a long time, and snacks will not be eaten during the test frame.
  • Be on time for school.  
  • Stay positive.  This is a time to shine!  Testing is long, but students are ready.

ELA:  We completed our unit on poetry.  We also reviewed content for SC Ready (both reading and writing components).

Math:  We completed our unit on graphing and data analysis.  We also reviewed for SC Ready.

Science:  We completed our landforms unit.

Social Studies:  We completed our Civil War unit and discussed the major issued associated with Reconstruction.

ELA:  We will be continuing our unit with poetry.  We will also be reviewing for SC Ready.

Math:  We will be wrapping up Module 6.  This is a quick module about graphs and their interpretations.  We will have a test on Thursday, May 10 on Module 6.  We will also continue to review for SC Ready.

Science:  We will complete our learning about landforms.  Students will have a test on landforms on Friday, May 11.

Social Studies:  Students will learn more about the time period after the Civil War, known as Reconstruction.
