ELA:  We will wrap up our learning of text structures.  We will have a test on the reading book selection, Animal Homes, on Friday.We will also work with transition words and analytical writing.

Math:  We will have a test on Module 3 on Tuesday.  We will begin new topic, area, later in the week.

Science:  We will wrap up our learning about rocks.

Social Studies:  We will continue learning about the American Revolution.

ELA: We will continue exploring text structures such as cause and effect.  We will also be working with various forms of adjectives.

Math:  We will continue with Module 3, working with parentheses as well as multiplication and division. Students will have a quiz on Wednesday.

Science:  We will be learning about rocks and minerals.

Social Studies:  We will be wrapping up our unit about colonial times. We will have a test on Friday.

Soil Models

This week we made edible soil models using directions and creativity.  Ask your child what they know about sand, silt, clay, and humus!

ELA:  We will be publishing our nonfiction books in class. We will be learning more about text structures that authors use and how these structures help us to remember what we have read.

Math:  We will continue to work with writing algebraic equations with multiplication and division.

Science:  We will have a quiz on soil on Wednesday.

Social Studies:  We will continue to learn about conflict amongst groups in colonial Carolina.

Collaboration in ELA

Students worked together to reread Penguin Chick and then paraphrase important facts from the text.

ELA:  We will continue working with main idea and details using the story, Penguin Chick. We will also be working on using context clues to determine the meaning of new words.  In writing, we will continue working on our informational books.  We will have a quiz on Penguin Chick on Friday.

Math:  We will begin Module 3, which is a revisiting of multiplication and division.

Social Studies:  We will begin learning about the conflict and cooperation among Native Americans and colonists.

Science:  We will wrap up our learning about soil.
