Looking Ahead Week of April 3

Looking Ahead 
Week of April 3

ELA:  We will be reading Nacho and Lolita, which is in our reading book.  We will have an open book test on this book on Friday.

Math:  We will continue working with graphing and finish Module 6.    Students will have a test on Module 6 on Wednesday.  

Science:  We have ended our matter unit.  We will review and then test this area on Tuesday.  Look for a study stack to come later today!  We will begin our heat unit.

Social Studies:  We will continue learning about Antebellum times.

ELA:  This week, we worked to analyze persuasive text as well as read nonfiction for meaning and details.

Math:  This week, we continued to work with different kinds of graphs.

Science:  This week, we learned about changes in matter (changing states).

Social Studies:  We began learning about the Antebellum period, the time before the Civil War.

ELA:  We worked on determining main idea in both fiction and nonfiction text.  As your child about our hand trick!

Math:  We have been learning about graphs.

Social Studies: We wrapped up our learning about government.

Science:  We learned about solids, liquids, and gases.

Looking Ahead Week of March 21

ELA:  Students will continue analyzing texts to be able to draw conclusions, compare and contrast, and to summarize.

Math:  Students will take MAP Math on Tuesday, March 21.  Then, students will begin Module 6, which is about graphing and data collection.

Social Studies:  Students will continue learning about government and begin their learning about Antebellum times in SC.

Science:  Students will begin to learn about matter.

ELA:    Students learned about finding implicit and explicit details in text. They also compared and contrasted similar texts and began to summarize what they read.  We also completed MAP testing. Students did a GREAT job!

Math:  Students practiced various skills in preparation for MAP testing.  Students practiced working with function tables, mean, median, mode, and range.  MAP Math testing will occur on Tuesday, March 21.

Science:  Students completed their learning about fast and slow processes that affect Earth's surface.  

Social Studies:  Students have been learning about the structure and function of government.

ELA:  We will continue working to pull important details from text, draw conclusions, and begin to summarize.  MAP Reading is on Tuesday, March 14.

Math:  We will have a test on Module 5 on Monday.  We will begin learning about graphs as well as review concepts for MAP testing.

Science:  We will continue learning about fast processes. We will have a quiz on fast and slow processes that change Earth on Friday, March 17.

Social  Studies:  We will begin to learn about government.

Week of March 6, 2017

ELA:  This week, we worked with describing poetry by its rhyme scheme, figurative language, and subject.  We also learned about mood and tone in literature. Ask you child about our Mary Poppins video clips!  Lastly, we began working more with explicit and implicit meanings from text. (Taking what is actually stated and merging it with our inferences to figure out what the selection, book, or passage is about.

Math:  We wrapped up our unit on fractions. The test for this unit will be on Monday, March 13.

Science:  We wrapped up learning about slow process and began learning about fast processes that change Earth's surface.  We will have a quiz on these processes on Friday, March 17.

Social Studies:  We wrapped up our unit about the American Revolution.
