Check Out What We Were Learning This Week
October 2-6
ELA- We used two strategies to help us better remember what we read. Students are learning to make connections to self, connections to the world, and connections to text. When we are actively making connections, then we are making our reading personal to us. We also worked with questioning. Questioning before, during, and after reading helps us to interact with text which will help us to analyze and summarize what we read.
We also practiced writing personal narratives. We used two strategies to get started- using a memory map and a list. The writing was amazing!
Math: We wrapped up Module 1. We will have a test on Tuesday, October 11.
Social Studies: We began learning about some of the Native American tribes that could be found in South Carolina when the earliest settlers from Europe arrived. So far, we have learned about the Cherokee and the Catawba. We will have a test on the Cherokee, Catawba, and Yemassee tribes on Friday, October 13.
Science: We wrapped up our unit on the grasslands.
