Week in Review
October 23-27
ELA- We worked to analyze fiction through discussions about story elements, especially characters. Students are becoming experts at describing story elements and providing evidence behind their thinking! In writing, we learned about the skill of "show don't tell". This concept is about elaborating details so that the reader gets a clearer picture of what the author is trying to convey.
Math- We learned how to round to the nearest 10 and to the nearest 100 using a number line model. We also discussed the relative size of milliliters and liters. We will have a quiz on Thursday, November 2.
Social Studies: We finished learning about explorers that came to South Carolina. In particular, we learned about Hernando DeSoto, Juan Pardo, Jean Ribault, William Hilton, and Dr. Henry Woodward. We will have a test on these explorers on Friday, November 3.
Science: We learned about the rainforest.
