Looking Ahead
Week of September 10
ELA: We will continue to work to build stamina with reading and writing. Students are learning how to be accountable, interactive readers. Ask your child about their independent reading notebook! We will continue to integrate social studies and reading by using map skills, as it is a text feature. We will be working on identifying character traits and motives through the story, First Day Jitters, which is in our reading book.
Math: We will continue working with connecting repeated addition to multiplication. We will continue working with various grouping methods, such as arrays. We will begin to look at properties of multiplication. We will have a quiz on Lessons 1-3 (you can look at their previous problem sets and homework for reference) on Tuesday, September 11.
Social Studies: We will continue to learn more about the location of South Carolina while reviewing the compass rose. We will have a quiz on Friday, September 14. Students have begun using their social studies notebooks. In this notebook, you will see all of our notes and work related to our study of geography.
Science: We will continue learning about the grassland habitat, including plant and animal adaptations that are present. We will begin to look at roles of organisms within the habitats. We have also begun to use our science notebooks. In this notebook you will see all of our notes and work related to our study of grasslands and process skills.
